THE FLOATING ISLANDS OF THE UROS

 

They are located east of the city, 7 km away, being one of the traditional views. These Islands are artificial
floors made of superimposed and skillfully interwoven totora, there are all sizes and in the Natural Reserve of
Titicaca, Bay of Puno in an approximate number of 50.

THE ISLAND OF TAQUILE

It belongs to the district of Amantaní, Puno, Peru and is located 45 km from the regional capital. It has an

Departure by boat heading to the floating islands of the Uros. The Floating Islands of the Uros built by a dense vegetation of totora and llachu, also called Khili; for its conservation the tissue of the cattail is made every three months, being this the way to  
avoid the disintegration of the floor.

Visit to the second Island of the Uros.

Departure to Taquile Island, the trip takes around 2:30 hours at 4,050 m.a.s.l. and at 240 meters.   
Above the lake level. Arrival on the island of Taquile walk 20 minutes to the community that receives them there organized families will present a demonstration of dances, singing, music  and textiles. Small trekking to know the island.
